The Texas A&M Forest Service designed a quick and easy tree planting tool for selecting trees that will thrive in your particular region. The Texas Tree Planting Guide has two methods: Express and Custom.
Express Tree Selector
The Express mode simply asks you your county and lets you choose between a small, medium or large tree. The query returns the trees that qualify. Clicking a tree reveals more details, including leaf type, growth rate, tolerances, water needs and so forth.
Custom Tree Selector
Custom mode gets more specific by asking a few more questions, such as how much area is available for the tree, leaf type, and special characteristics such as flowering and color. Just as before, the query returns your choices, and you are able to click on a choice to see more details.
Tree Planting Tools
For all the Do-It-Yourself folks, there is another great part of the site called tree planting tools– easy-to-follow tip sheets on 9 different tree planting topics ranging from planning to maintenance and tree trimming.
